Pam Milner - Healthy Living Advocate

I have been around the world of health since 1982 when I received my Licensed Vocational Nursing degree. I have always loved helping others and almost all my vocations have been in some capacity “helping others.” Being a nurse was a total “God thing” because I never really thought about nursing. God placed a kind boss in my path who said one day “have you thought about nursing as a career?” Through his wife who was a volunteer at a local hospital, I was offered a full scholarship. And so my love of health began. After years in the medical field, I was introduced to natural health and my eyes were opened to a brand-new world.

Since creation I believe God has provided exactly what our bodies need to heal. Not only through food but the innate wisdom to slow down and listen to our bodies. My story of healing began when I started to slow down and listen. Struggling for years with eczema, through research and listening I was able to heal my body with food, yoga and slowing down.

Hippocrates the ancient Greek philosopher stated, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” This is still relevant today due to the increasing number of chronic illnesses  including autoimmune, cancer and Type 2 diabetes. Did you know that most doctors do not  receive any medical training in the power of nutrition?

Beginning in the early 90’s I began to buy every book and pick up every free magazine and purchase a few to read about alternative, Chinese and Ayurvedic health. Fast forward to the 2000’s and we begin to see disease through a different lens, the gut microbiome which is just fully coming to light. You could say I was “alternative before alternative was cool.” Along the way I became a personal trainer, certified yoga teacher, followed by 300 hours in yoga therapy which has been a complement to all the knowledge I have obtained about the body. Through Holy Yoga, I also found health for my soul.

Jesus words “You are to love the Lord YAHWEH, your God, with a passionate heart, from the depths of your soul, with your every thought, and with all your strength. This is the great and supreme commandment.” Our healing is not just about being strong through physical exercise, but we must take every thought captive so that healing can begin in our minds and our soul is longing to be nourished through spiritual disciplines and to recognize that Jesus can heal your heart through learning your identity in Him.

Health is simple BUT not easy.
